Quilt With Confidence™

Fill the gaps. Fix what's going wrong. Quilt with confidence.

You may already know some of the basics. You may even have made a few blocks or started a quilt - but there are still things that don't quite work, skills you're unsure about, or moments when you find yourself wondering, "Am I actually doing this right?"

Quilt With Confidence™ gives you a clear path through patchwork and quilting, with the skills taught in the right order, close-up demonstrations, and real help whenever you get stuck, so you can stop second-guessing yourself and start making quilts you're genuinely proud to finish.

Maybe you can already cut fabric and sew a basic block...but your seams aren't always as accurate as you'd like, your points sometimes disappear, or you reach a stage in a project and suddenly realise you're not quite sure what comes next.

Maybe you've watched plenty of YouTube videos and picked up lots of useful bits and pieces, but they've never quite joined together into one clear, dependable process.

Or perhaps you simply want to stop wondering whether you're doing it "properly" and know that, when something goes wrong, there's someone you can ask.

That's exactly what Quilt With Confidence™ is designed for.

It's a structured eight-week live programme that helps you bring all those separate pieces together. You'll work through clear, pre-recorded lessons at your own pace, then join me each week for live Q&A coaching so you can ask questions, show me what's happening with your own work and get help before a small problem turns into a frustrating one.

You'll be learning alongside a small group of other quilters at the same stage, with me guiding you through the process and helping you understand not just what to do, but why, so the skills start to make sense and become skills you can use again on future quilts.

Your project?  A beautiful set of modern placemats and a coordinating table runner: manageable enough to learn on, but with plenty of opportunities to practise the essential skills you'll use again and again in quilting.

By the end, the aim isn't simply to have finished one project. It's to feel far more certain about what you're doing, know how to spot and fix problems, and feel ready to keep quilting without constantly second-guessing yourself.

"I've recently done the QWC course with Kim and am delighted that my husband discovered her website! I was struggling in the class I'd previously joined - I hadn't sewn in years. As a beginner I'd no idea how to use my new sewing machine or all the techniques needed for quilting. Kim's course is so detailed - one step at a time - she is a great teacher - very encouraging and has a lovely sense of humour. I have completed these place mats and am delighted with the results. I highly recommend Kim and her course - you won't regret signing up. I initially thought the course was expensive - but quickly realised how wrong I was. Kim has put a huge amount of work and content into these instruction videos with lots of downloadable guides. You will learn so much and fall in love with quilting. I certainly have."

The Three Things Kim's Students Love The Most
The Three Things Kim's Students Love The Most
  • 1. Crystal-clear video lessons you can follow at your own pace
No more pausing and rewinding YouTube tutorials in a panic, or feeling like everyone else understands something you don't. Every lesson in Quilt With Confidence™ is beautifully broken down into calm, bite-sized steps, so you always know exactly what to do next, and you always feel like you're winning.
  • 2. A teacher who truly has your back every stitch of the way
There's something incredibly reassuring about knowing you're not doing this alone. I am warm, patient, and genuinely invested in every single one of my students. I'm the kind of teacher who notices when you're struggling and knows exactly what to say to get you back on track and smiling again.
  • 3. The pride of finishing something beautiful - and calling yourself a quilter
That moment when you step back, look at what your own two hands have created, and feel that quiet little thrill of pride? That's what this is really all about. My students describe it again and again - and it never gets old.
Student Successes
"The video course tutorials remain accessible to graduate students to refer back to in the future... I am relatively new to sewing and previous attempts at machine patchwork had never been completed to my satisfaction! ...after only a few months, I have a table placemat and table runner set to be really proud of - I cannot believe that I managed to achieve such a high standard of workmanship! Thank you Kim for your excellent teaching skills and being with me throughout my quilting journey! I really developed a relationship with my sewing machine and my fabric - I have never "stroked so much fabric" before in my life!"

About Your Tutor

Hi! I'm Kim.
Hi, I'm Kim 👋 and I've been exactly where you are.

Nearly 20 years ago, I bought a bundle of pre-cut squares from eBay, full of excitement...and then had absolutely no idea what to do with them. (I still have some of them today. True story. 😄)

A few years later I signed up for a year-long quilting course. It was too long, too much, and honestly too overwhelming. Our teacher even forgot to teach us how to cut a square! And yet, despite all of that confusion, I fell completely and utterly in love with patchwork and quilting. I'd finally found my place in the sewing world.

I've sewn since I was eight years old - fifty years ago now - but making clothes never really called to me, and upholstery left me cold. It was actually a cross-stitch design I'd made as a centre panel for my daughter's bedroom cushion that led me to patchwork for the first time. And I never looked back.

But that overwhelming first experience taught me something really important: something that has shaped everything I've done since.

How was I supposed to choose fabrics for a big quilt when I didn't yet understand how it all worked? How was I supposed to learn complex skills when I hadn't yet mastered the simple ones? I couldn't. Nobody could.

So when I opened my own shop and started teaching, I developed my own step-by-step approach from scratch. I always start students on small, achievable projects first - building skills and confidence together, one satisfying step at a time - before moving on to the bigger, more complex things. It's the teaching method I wish I'd had at the beginning. And it changes everything.

After losing my mum, I made a decision: life is for living joyously. So I left my career in marketing, opened my own quilt shop, and eventually moved everything online after Covid, where I discovered I could reach and teach so many more people than I ever could from a physical shop.

Today, I've been teaching patchwork and quilting for over ten years. I hold a City & Guilds qualification in Patchwork & Quilting, my YouTube channel has had over 750,000 views, and I've helped hundreds of beginners go from nervous and confused to confidently calling themselves quilters.

But here's why I really teach.

Because I know exactly what it feels like to sit in front of a pile of beautiful fabric with no idea where to begin. I know the overwhelm, the self-doubt, and the quiet worry that maybe quilting just isn't for people like me.

And I know - because I've seen it happen again and again - that with the right guidance, the right structure, and a teacher who genuinely has your back, every single one of those feelings melts away.

That's exactly why I created Quilt With Confidence™. Not just to teach you to quilt - but to give you the calm, the clarity, and the confidence to fall in love with it, just like I did.

About the course itself
Q. How do I know if this is legitimate?
A. I REALLY want you to ask this question; it is SO important to stay safe online, and I am right behind you with this.

One of my first students hadn't heard of me at all so she and her partner wondered if this was a scam. I can completely understand that. The rest of my students had followed me for a while or had a family member recommend me to them, so that's a bit easier.

For my part, you can find me all over YouTube here and you will find me guest presenting on Sewing Street TV (you can watch an episode here at 02:00 and 04:00 time stamps - it goes out live).

I know it's difficult to know who to trust for the right information, however I invest heavily in myself and am City and Guilds level 3 qualified in Patchwork and Quilting. This is an international body that provides recognised professional qualifications for vocational subjects. I am currently studying for the City & Guilds Advanced Level 4 qualification.

And if you Google 'Quilt With Kim' you will find my Google reviews to read up about me.

And if all else fails, you can email me here and I will answer.
Q. Will I need to invest in any other course to teach me how to quilt?
A. Not at all.

Quilt With Confidence™ takes you through everything you need, step by step: from setting up your machine all the way to binding your finished table set. Everything is included, nothing is missing, and nothing is left to chance. This is your complete beginner's journey, start to finish.

This doesn't mean you may not want to go and do future courses and retreats in the future, because we all want to go do those. But to get you started (or re-started). I have you covered.
Q. I'll be honest, the price feels like a lot for a quilting course - is it worth it?
A. I understand that hesitation, and I'd rather you ask than not.

This isn't just a set of videos. You get every technique broken down step by step, a full library of guides to work alongside them, and access that doesn't disappear after eight weeks. So unlike an in-person class, you can come back and rewatch a tricky bit as many times as you need, whenever life gets in the way.

And then there are the weekly live calls, which is the bit my students mention again and again. One told me she'd assumed the price felt like a lot too, until she saw the depth of what was actually inside. Another said, quite honestly, that it wasn't cheap and took real commitment. But finishing with a table runner and matching mats she was properly proud of made it one of her best decisions. That's what the live calls give you: real answers to your "am I doing this right?" moments, not just a video left to gather dust.

So yes, it's a proper investment, not a casual one. I'd rather be upfront about that than pretend otherwise.

Q. How long is the course?
A. The live element of the course runs over eight weeks with live Q&A and coaching support throughout, but you're absolutely not locked into that pace. Life happens, and Quilt With Confidence™ is designed to work around yours. The pre-recorded lessons will always be there so you can go at whatever speed feels right for you.
Q. When do the videos go away?
A. They don't! You have lifetime access to all the course materials, so you can revisit any lesson whenever you need a refresher - whether that's next week or next year. Your learning is yours to keep.
Q. What if I fall behind?
A. Then you simply pick up where you left off - no pressure, no catch-up panic, no judgement. Quilt With Confidence™ is yours to work through at your own pace. The only rule is that you enjoy it!
About learning online
Q. Why can't I just learn on YouTube instead? It's free!
A. As a YouTuber myself, I love that question - and I want to answer it really honestly! YouTube is a search engine at heart. It's brilliant for answering specific questions, but here's the thing: when you're a complete beginner, you don't always know what questions to ask. You don't yet know what you don't know.

My YouTube videos are made with love for my community, but they're relatively random weekly uploads, not a structured learning journey. There's no logical progression, no one checking in on you, none to help you break through the mental and emotional blocks (trust me, they happen) and the 'but this has just happened' type questions. And there is no guarantee that what you watch this week connects to what you watched last week.

Quilt With Confidence™ is completely different. Everything is carefully sequenced, so each lesson builds on the last, nothing is missed out, and you always know exactly where you are and what comes next. It's the difference between wandering around a new city with no map and being guided by someone who knows every street.

Q. I'm nervous about learning on my own.
A. You won't be on your own; that's why I have designed and created Quilt With Confidence™. Throughout the eight weeks, I will be right there with you through the live Q&A sessions, ready to answer your questions, troubleshoot any wobbles, and cheer you on. And you'll be surrounded by a lovely group of fellow beginners who completely understand how you feel - because they feel it too.
Q. I already feel overwhelmed by all the different tutorials out there - won't QWC just add to that overwhelm?
A. Quite the opposite. Quilt With Confidence™ is designed to cut through all of that noise. Instead of drowning in a sea of conflicting advice from different teachers with different methods, you have one calm, clear, structured pathway. One qualified teacher (me!). One method. One step at a time. No confusion, no contradiction, no overwhelm.
Q. I don't know if I'm ready: can't I just practice on my own for a while first?
A. Here's a gentle truth: practising without guidance often means practising the wrong things, and that can actually make it harder to learn good habits later. The best time to start is right at the beginning, before any bad habits have had a chance to take hold! Quilt With Confidence™ is designed for complete beginners: you don't need to know anything at all to start. You just need to show up.
About ability & confidence
Q. I'm not very technical - could I handle this course?
A. Absolutely; and this is probably the question I hear most often! Quilt With Confidence™ is specifically designed for people who don't feel technical. Every single lesson is broken down into small, calm, manageable steps: no jargon, no assumptions, no skipping ahead. If you can follow a simple recipe, you can follow these lessons.
Q. I think I'm too old to learn.
A. Rubbish! 😅 Age is more an attitude than a number. One of my students started in her 80's. Most start in their 60's and 70's. I do have students younger than 40, but generally most start to learn once they have retired. If you want to learn, I promise I can teach you.
Q. I still can't sew a straight line - let alone an accurate seam for patchwork!
A. Then you're in exactly the right place! Module 1 starts right at the very beginning: setting up your machine, threading it up, and getting comfortable at your sewing table. By the time you reach the patchwork lessons in module 3, sewing a straight line will already feel completely natural. We build everything up gradually, so nothing ever feels like a leap.
Q. I don't think I'm very creative and I don't know how to put colours together.
A. Good news - you don't need to be! The placemat design (and coordinating table runner design) in Quilt With Confidence™ is beautifully simple and modern, and Module 2 includes a whole lesson on choosing fabric and colours with confidence. You'll learn a few simple guidelines that make colour choosing feel easy and enjoyable, not stressful. Many students who said exactly this have gone on to create the most beautiful fabric combinations!
Q. I'd feel embarrassed about asking very basic questions in front of the group.
A. Please don't worry about this, it's one of the loveliest things about Quilt With Confidence™! Every single person in the group is a beginner, just like you. There is genuinely no such thing as a stupid question here, and my live Q&A sessions are a warm, supportive, judgement-free space. You'll very quickly realise that someone else was just about to ask exactly the same thing, and everyone breathes a sigh of relief that you asked it first!
Q. There seems to be a lot to learn inside QWC - are you sure I can do this?
A. I am absolutely sure! And so are the students who felt exactly the same way before they started! Yes, there's a lot covered across the six modules, but remember, it's all broken down into small, bite-sized lessons that build gently on each other. You never have to tackle everything at once. One lesson, one step, one small win at a time, and before you know it, you've made something beautiful.
About practicalities
Q. How much extra will I need to invest to get started?
A. It's a great question as quilting is not a cheap hobby.

You will need your basic quilting equipment from module 2 and a walking foot for your machine for module 4 onwards. The cost of these will vary depending on where you are in the world, but you can estimate to spend in the region of £70 / $95 USD / A$134. A walking foot will cost you approximately £35 / $47 / A$67. Please don't rush out to buy them until you have watched that part of the course as I'll help stop you buying the wrong thing.

In Quilt With Confidence™ you will be making two projects: a set of four table mats and a matching table runner. Overall, you will need 6 metres of fabric over three different colour ways, 2 metres of wadding/batting and various piecing and quilting threads. I will tell you what to buy and when. For both projects, the cost of the fabric, wadding and thread is likely to be in the region of £140 / $190 USD / A$268. However, you do NOT need to buy it all in one go and I will help you find budget friendly alternatives if you need that.
Q. I'm scared of wasting fabric by cutting it wrong.
A. This is such an understandable worry. Beautiful fabric feels precious and the last thing you want to do is ruin it! That's exactly why Module 2 walks you through accurate cutting step by step, with the right tools and the right technique. And before you touch your actual project fabric, you'll practise on scraps first, so by the time you cut into the good stuff, you'll already feel confident and ready. And here's a reassuring thought: every quilter in the world has cut something wrong at some point. It's how we learn. But I'll do everything I can to make sure it doesn't happen to you!
Q. I'm worried about my sewing machine.
A. The whole of Module 1 is dedicated to making friends with your machine - whatever make, model or age it is! You'll learn how to set it up, thread it, troubleshoot common little problems, and keep it running happily. By the end of Module 1, that machine will feel far less scary and far more like a very useful friend.
Q. I don't have a lot of time to commit to a course.
A. Quilt With Confidence™ is designed to fit around real life, not the other way around. The lessons are short and focused, the videos are yours to watch whenever suits you, and there's no pressure to keep up with anyone else. Even just a couple of hours a week is enough to make steady, satisfying progress. And the beauty of lifetime access is that you can always pause and pick back up whenever life allows.

Can I have a quiet word with you for a moment?
If you've read this far and you're still not sure, I want you to know that I completely understand. Making a decision to invest in yourself can feel surprisingly hard, especially when you've spent so long putting everyone else first.

But here's what I want you to hear.

You've been thinking about learning to quilt for a while now, haven't you? Maybe it's been months. Maybe it's been years. There's something about it that keeps calling you back: the beautiful fabrics, the idea of making something with your own hands, the thought of sitting quietly and creating something that will last.

That's not a passing fancy. That's you - the creative, capable, curious 'you' who deserves a hobby that's entirely your own.

And I know what the voice in your head might be saying right now. "What if I can't do it? What if I waste the money? What if I fall behind? What if everyone else is better than me?"

I've heard every single one of those worries, because every person who has ever sat down in my virtual classroom has felt exactly the same way before they started. Every single one.

And every single one of them made something beautiful.

Imagine sitting down at your machine - calm, confident, knowing exactly what to do next. Imagine the moment you hold up your finished table set and feel that quiet little thrill of pride. Imagine wrapping up something you made with your own hands to give as a gift, or laying your table with something beautiful that YOU created.

That's not a dream. That's what's waiting for you on the other side of this decision.

You have what it takes. You really do. And I'll be right there with you - every stitch of the way.

The only question is - are you ready to begin?
